CVSS v3.1 |
| veraPDF validation model is an implementation of the veraPDF validation model. From 1.25.73 until 1.30.2 and 1.31.71, veraPDF-validation contains an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in validation-model/src/main/java/org/verapdf/gf/model/tools/DictionaryKeysHelper.java in getRichTextStringOrStreamEntryStringRepresentation(), where a crafted PDF containing a malicious rich-text /RC or /RV entry can cause external entity expansion and reflect local file contents into the validation report. This issue is fixed in versions 1.30.2 and 1.31.71. |
| veraPDF validation provides PDF/A and PDF/UA validation, feature reporting, and metadata repair. From 1.17.35 until 1.30.2 and 1.31.71, veraPDF-validation contains an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in validation-model/src/main/java/org/verapdf/gf/model/impl/pd/GFPDAcroForm.java in the getdynamicRender() method, where a crafted PDF containing a malicious XFA stream can cause external entity expansion during PDF/UA-1 validation and allow local file disclosure or outbound server-side requests. This issue is fixed in versions 1.30.2 and 1.31.71. |
| veraPDF validation model is an implementation of the veraPDF validation model. From 1.25.73 until 1.30.2 and 1.31.71, veraPDF-validation contains an XML External Entity vulnerability in PDFAValidator.validate(...) and GFPDAcroForm.getdynamicRender(), where default DocumentBuilderFactory parsing of rich-text annotation or form-field values and XFA configurations in untrusted PDFs can allow local file disclosure and outbound network requests. This issue is fixed in versions 1.30.2 and 1.31.71. |
| Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference vulnerability in Apache Lucene.Net (Lucene.Net.Analysis.Common library).
This issue affects Apache Lucene.Net.Analysis.Common: from 4.8.0-beta00005 before 4.8.0-beta00018.
Users are recommended to upgrade to version 4.8.0-beta00018, which fixes the issue. |
| Dell Unisphere for PowerMax, version(s) 10.3.0.5 and prior contain(s) an Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference vulnerability. A low privileged attacker with remote access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Unauthorized access. |
| Vvveb before version 1.0.8.2 contains an XML external entity (XXE) injection vulnerability in the admin Tools/Import feature that allows authenticated site_admin users to read arbitrary files and modify database records. Attackers can exploit the XML parser configuration in system/import/xml.php to inject file:// or php://filter entity references that are resolved and persisted into the application database, enabling arbitrary file disclosure and administrator password hash overwriting for privilege escalation. |
| NovaRad NovaPACS Diagnostics Viewer 8.5.19.75 contains an unauthenticated XML External Entity (XXE) injection vulnerability in XML preference import settings. Attackers can craft malicious XML files with DTD parameter entities to retrieve arbitrary system files through an out-of-band channel attack. |
| Symfony is a PHP framework for web and console applications and a set of reusable PHP components. Prior to 5.4.52, 6.4.40, 7.4.12, and 8.0.12, Crawler::addXmlContent() set DOMDocument::$validateOnParse = true before loadXML(), re-enabling external entity resolution and allowing attacker-supplied XML to expand file:// entities such as local files. This issue is fixed in versions 5.4.52, 6.4.40, 7.4.12, and 8.0.12. |
| proCertum SmartSign parses external XML entities from arbitrary crafted signature files, enabling SSRF and potentially allowing the reading of local files, depending on the parser's configuration. The XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability is triggered simply by previewing a file in the file selection window, before the victim clicks “Open”.
This issue was fixed in version 9.4.3.90. |
| Netty is a network application framework for development of protocol servers and clients. In versions 4.2.0.Final through 4.2.15.Final and 4.1.0.Final through 4.1.135.Final, any caller that can deliver bytes to a Netty channel pipeline containing `XmlDecoder` can send XML with a `DOCTYPE` declaration to an `AsyncXMLInputFactory` instantiated with no security configuration, leaving DTD and entity handling active depending on Aalto XML async parser behavior and creating conditional XML external entity risk. This issue is fixed in versions 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final. |
| libpvestorage-perl v9.1.1 and libpve-storage-perl v8.3.7 were discovered to contain an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability. |
| XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in esaml (and its forks) allows an attacker to cause the system to read local files and incorporate their contents into processed SAML documents, and potentially perform SSRF via crafted SAML messages.
esaml parses attacker-controlled SAML messages using xmerl_scan:string/2 before signature verification without disabling XML entity expansion. On Erlang/OTP versions before 27, Xmerl allows entities by default, enabling pre-signature XXE attacks. An attacker can cause the host to read local files (e.g., Kubernetes-mounted secrets) into the SAML document. If the attacker is not a trusted SAML SP, signature verification will fail and the document is discarded, but file contents may still be exposed through logs or error messages.
This issue affects all versions of esaml, including forks by arekinath, handnot2, and dropbox. Users running on Erlang/OTP 27 or later are not affected due to Xmerl defaulting to entities disabled. |
| Improper restriction of XML external entity reference vulnerability in Netcad Software Inc. NetGIS allows Serialized Data External Linking.
This issue affects NetGIS: from 5.0.66 before 7.2.2. |
| HAPI FHIR is a complete implementation of the HL7 FHIR standard for healthcare interoperability in Java. Prior to 6.9.10, org.hl7.fhir.utilities.XsltUtilities saxonTransform(...) overloads instantiated a bare net.sf.saxon.TransformerFactoryImpl() without ACCESS_EXTERNAL_DTD or ACCESS_EXTERNAL_STYLESHEET restrictions, allowing an attacker who controls or can tamper with transformed XML to trigger XML External Entity injection for local file disclosure and blind XXE or SSRF to arbitrary URLs reachable from the host. This issue is fixed in version 6.9.10. |
| Adobe Experience Manager is affected by an Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference ('XXE') vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. A low-privileged attacker could exploit this vulnerability to read sensitive files, potentially gaining elevated access or control over the victim's account or session. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction. Scope is changed. |
| The input file does not need to be strictly in a structurally valid PDF format. Instead, after reviewing the content, the original document disguised as a PDF will be sent to the parser. Malicious documents will construct malicious external entities that, through the protocol, point to local paths, thereby allowing access to any local files within the user's permission range. |
| IBM Business Automation Manager Open Editions 9.0.0 through 9.4.2 is vulnerable to an XML external entity injection (XXE) attack when processing XML data. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to expose sensitive information or consume memory resources. |
| Docling simplifies document processing by parsing diverse formats and providing integrations with the generative AI ecosystem. From 2.45.0 until 2.91.0, the METS-GBS backend's XML parsing and the input document format detection lacked security controls. An attacker could craft malicious METS-GBS archives that, when processed, could read sensitive files, exhaust system resources, or cause application crashes. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.91.0. |
| A flaw was found in Apicurio Registry. The ContentTypeUtil.isParsableXml() method creates a SAXParserFactory without enabling secure processing features or disabling external entity resolution. An attacker with artifact-write permission (or unauthenticated when the registry runs with default configuration) can upload a crafted XML document to trigger blind server-side request forgery (SSRF) via external DTD/entity fetch, or cause denial of service via entity expansion. |
| Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language. Prior to 1.19.4, the NONET parse option, which Nokogiri turns on by default for Nokogiri::XML::Schema (see CVE-2020-26247), was not correctly enforced on the JRuby implementation. As a result, a schema parsed with default options could still cause external resources to be fetched over the network, potentially enabling SSRF or XXE attacks. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.19.4. |
